Hi, I'm

Ebenezer Ogoe

I'm an MSc student in plant breeding and genetics at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. I simulate breeding programmes, mostly in R.

I also write software. Most of it comes out of lab and field work, though some comes from exploring how old games work.

Tools used

  • R
  • Shiny
  • golem
  • AlphaSimR
  • vcfR
  • data.table
  • ggplot2

A Shiny app that turns real marker data into an AlphaSimR founder population without writing R. Load a VCF, HapMap, numeric or PLINK file, check it, filter it and export what newMapPop() needs.

  • Kotlin
  • Jetpack Compose
  • Room
  • Paparazzi

An Android app for finding a plant again. I built it to walk back to bagged sorghum plants in a crossing block. Now it works for anyone who marks points in a field.

  • Ultralytics YOLO26
  • ONNX Runtime
  • Kotlin
  • Jetpack Compose

An Android app that counts bacterial colonies from plate photos, offline. Two small YOLO models do the counting, in about three quarters of a second a plate on my phone.

R tools for people who don't code

Point-and-click apps for jobs that normally mean writing R. Each one is an R package that installs like any other. All four are on my r-universe.

There's more on the research and projects pages

The research page has my thesis and the software I wrote for it. Everything else I've built is under projects. If you want to talk about any of it, please see the contact page.
